| Bio: | I used to be a research astronomer specializing in X-ray observations of neutron star and black hole binary star systems. While this may sound exotic, and is in some manner, it mostly involved looking at data collected from satellite observatories in the form of numbers on a computer. The data was analyzed in various ways with mathematical models and papers were written on any useful results. There was much tediousness in this work and a lot of patience and persistence was required as well as a lot of heavy thinking. There were occasional moments of wonder and excitement when a new and mysterious phenomena was seen for the first time and a few thrilling moments when I figured out something truly new and learned a fact or two about our great universe that no one else in the world had ever known before. But those days are over and I am thinking about what to do for the second half of my career. I like to explore, think and write about many spiritual, cultural, personal and social issues in addition to science. I've learned much about my inner self through meditation and other spiritual practices and have seen and experienced many strange, wonderful and sometimes frightening things. Sometimes I may write about these experiences and what they might mean. Perhaps many of my musings on these and other various and sundry topics will appear in this journal. We'll see what unfolds... | |||||||
